STYLING YOUR HOME FOR SALE

With the rise of popular home & lifestyle programs, there has been a revived push towards interior styling. Styling your home at any time can bring a fresh look to a tired space, or completely transform your home from family chaos to family functional.

Perhaps the most important time to look at styling is when it comes time to sell. Now this, of course, doesn’t mean that you need to rush out and hire a stylist, or completely refurnish your home. In fact, by following a few easy steps, you can easily transform your home into sale ready space.

Focus on key rooms

A tip that works well especially well for families! It isn’t always possible to overhaul your entire house – we’ve all been there. Focus your attention on key areas that will be photographed. These spaces are the draw card for potential buyers searching for your home online.

Clean & Declutter

The most common of advice when it comes to selling your home, but still a tried and tested theory. Removing any excess furniture and furnishings as well as appliances from your kitchen benches will make the space feel bigger. And of course, a good scrub of windows and bringing down any cobwebs from outdoor areas goes a long way for buyers first impressions.

Tidy the garden

Often a little neglected during these colder months, the backyard is a staple of ‘Aussie lifestyle’ so make sure that it lives up to the reputation. Keep your lawns tended and make sure that any outdoor furniture or kids equipment is looking spic and span. Nothing is more disheartening than a broken-down barbie area… not very inspiring for the potential entertainer.

Neutralise the space

If repainting, choose a neutral pallet for your walls carrying this pallet throughout the house will create a nice cohesive feel to your home. Use only a few complimentary colours for cushions and throws. Pops of colour throughout the space should be used as a feature. Think soft neutral furnishings for bedrooms, matching towels in bathrooms and fresh flowers/greenery inside. A bowl of green apples on the kitchen counter will make all the difference.

Don’t break the budget

Most importantly – don’t break the bank trying to upgrade your home for sale. These simple fixes often cost nothing but a little time and elbow grease, and the results will pay for themselves.
