We were lucky enough to speak with Sarah and Kylie about all they do…

Firstly, we just love how close you two are. How did you meet and decide to work together on bringing Babylon Flowers to Brunswick?

Sarah and myself worked together previously before Babylon. Our personalities are so complimenrary, it makes for such a great partnership and friendship. We are both so passionate about flowers and everything we do. We actually never stop talking about flowers and colours!

After browsing through the dazzling pictures on your website and Instagram, it is blatantly clear you put so much thought and effort into your creations. We’d all like to think we could be just as artistic, but how long do these projects and bouquets actually take to make?

Normally a bouquet or posy can take 10 minutes from start to finish. A wedding bouquet, on the other hand, can take approximately up to an hour to construct depending on the design. 

Some of us like to go that extra mile when sending our gifts. Are there any occasions in which a gift could be made more intimate by sending a particular flower that has a secret meaning behind it?

Flowers are so personal, we like to talk to our customers and get a knowledge of the occasion and put something together that is uniquely designed for the recipient in mind. 

As you know, flowers are a timeless way of expressing beauty and emotion – the giving of red roses on Valentine’s Day (if we’re lucky), for example. Have you noticed any new trends or traditions emerging? At one stage we were seeing giant peonies & flowers all over IG…

Seasonal flowers, we are seeing flowers used that are at their peak, whether this be Dahlia's in summer, Chrysanthemum's around Mother's Day, Peonies in November...using flowers that define the season perfectly.
