Privacy Policy

Raine & Horne website Privacy Policy

This policy statement applies to the URL www.rh.com.au, www.raineandhorne.com.au , www.raineandhorne.com and www.raineandhornecommercial.com.au and sets out the policies of Raine & Horne relating to personal information provided to us, or collected by us, through this internet site. Unless you give your express consent otherwise, the following policies govern how Raine & Horne handles your personal information and safeguards your privacy.
NOTE: Third-party internet sites accessible through the above internet site, including sites created and operated by individual Raine & Horne franchised offices, have separate privacy and data-collection practices not controlled by Raine & Horne. Raine & Horne takes no responsibility for these independent policies and will not be liable for any actions of third parties in implementing such policies. Refer to those sites' own privacy policies to learn how they collect and use your personal information.

Collection and storage of information about you
Information is directly collected from you by Raine & Horne at three locations only on this internet site:

1. 'Market Opinion Request'
When you request a market opinion you will be asked to provide some personal details for the purposes of the request which is forwarded to the relevant person. At no stage is this information stored in a database.

2. 'Email Alerts'
When signing up for email alerts you will be required to provide a valid email address. This address is stored along with your search criteria in order to send property update information.

3. 'Contact Us'
If you have queries about of our services or anything on this internet site, you can request that we contact you with more information by providing your contact details. At no stage is this information stored in a database.
Information collected from you in accordance with the above procedures when you use any of the above facilities, where specified, is stored in a computer database. The database storing information regarding your personal details is only accessible by specifically authorised employees. Similarly, the database storing information regarding queries lodged through 'Contact Us' is only accessible by specifically authorised employees.

No hard copies of information collected as set out above are created or stored by Raine & Horne .
In addition to information you voluntarily provide to Raine & Horne while using this internet site, Raine & Horne maintains server logs regarding visits made to this site. Most internet sites maintain such server logs, and Raine & Horne analyses such logs in an effort to constantly improve the value of materials on the site. The server logs do not contain personally identifiable information and Raine & Horne does not make any attempt to link traffic information on the site with individuals who actually visit the site.

From time to time Raine & Horne might 'break down' overall usage statistics according to a user's domain name, browser type, and MIME type by reading information from the browser string (information contained in every user's browser). The sole purpose of this 'break down' is to improve site performance, monitor site pages that are visited infrequently to improve such pages, and to determine what type of browser support we require.

Cookies
A cookie is a small data file that certain websites write to your web browser (your computer's hard  drive) so it can later be read back from that browser. A cookie file can contain information such as a user ID that the site uses to track pages you have visited on that site. Raine & Horne Pty Ltd has a feature called Short List. This feature uses a cookie to store ID numbers to track properties you have added to your list. At no time does the cookie contain personal information or information not used solely for the Property List feature.

Who is authorised to access collected information ?
Certain employees of Raine & Horne will be authorised from time to time to access information collected from or about you for the purposes of using it as set out in this Privacy Policy, or otherwise for lawful purposes. Access to such information is protected by passwords that will be given only to those employees who have been authorised and who have been provided with the Raine & Horne Policy for Management of Personal and Sensitive Information. General security information
Raine & Horne has implemented technology and security features and strict policy guidelines to safeguard the privacy of personally identifiable information from unauthorised access or improper use. We will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available.
All information that you submit to us on this site is transmitted directly to our internal database server. We take measures to protect this information while it is stored, including:

(a) Using a 'firewall' to protect our internal computer systems and your stored personal information. A 'firewall' is a barrier to unauthorised users to prevent access to our systems. Our firewall comprises a password system.

(b) Monitoring system activity logs to identify unusual activity resulting from authorised and/or unauthorised individuals accessing our systems or making changes to stored information.

Use and disclosure of personal information
Raine & Horne will not disclose any personal information without your consent unless:

(a) such information must be provided to answer your queries submitted to this site or otherwise to provide you with a service that you have requested from us; or

(b) such information is required by law to be disclosed.

If it is necessary to provide you with a service you have requested from us, we might need to provide your personal information to an overseas entity. If so, we will use reasonable commercial endeavours to ensure that your personal information is not misused by the recipient.
Raine & Horne may also use your personal information for direct marketing purposes. Please refer to the section on direct marketing set out below. Raine & Horne does not use your personal information for the purposes of marketing, other than direct marketing in accordance with the following section.

Direct marketing
When you register as a user of this site through the 'Your Property Folder' facility, you might be asked whether you want to receive any direct marketing information from Raine & Horne. If you are receiving marketing information and do not want to continue receiving this information, please email us at enquiries@rh.com.au and ask to be removed from the marketing list. We will notify you of our receipt of your request and use commercially reasonable efforts to remove your name from the marketing list within five (5) working days from the date of receipt of your request.

Records of your personal information
Please email us at enquiries@rh.com.au if you want to obtain a record of any information we might have collected from or about you during your visits to our site.

Correction and updating of your personal information
You will note that each time you log into 'Your Property Folder' you are provided with the opportunity to update any record of personal information stored on our database.

Deletion of your personal information
If you want to completely delete any personal information you submit to Raine & Horne, you may do so by contacting us at enquiries@rh.com.au. We will notify you on receipt of your request and will use commercially reasonable efforts to functionally delete all such information from our database within five (5) working days from the date of receipt of your request. Please note that it might be impossible to delete all of your information without some residual records remaining on our computer system because of automatically generated backups and records of deletions.

Problems or complaints
