Gordonvale is only 20 mins south of Cairns City and has a range of features and services.
Famous for its landmark " Walsh's Pyramid " which is a steep 922m high with 360 degree views from the top. Each year a number of brave men & women compete in the " race that stops Gordonvale " . Each competitor will race from the town centre to the top of the Pyramid and back again to claim the title.
The population of Gordonvale consists of mainly families with some rural farmers.
Gordonvale has doctors, dental and pathology services, a number of stores, and hotels. Two child care centres and a community kindergarten a state high school and primary school, a Catholic primary school and Djarragun College.
Gordonvale has a number of various community facilities, including a Council hall, library, heated public swimming pool and an RSL. In terms of sport and recreation, there are various types of infrastructure, including several playing fields, a Golf course & horse racing track, tennis courts and lawn bowls.
