History
Residential development accelerated in the 1950's, and today is a beautiful modern suburb.
The suburb's extremities are defined by Forest Road on the northeast, Avenel Road on the north, Dents Creek on the west, and the waters of North West Arm and the bay itself to the south.
The area is characterised by large amounts of verdant bushland.
Attractions
Gymea Bay has a post office and a handful of shops, more extensive shopping can be done at either Miranda or Gymea. Gymea Bay baths are a real highlight, consisting of a small sandy beach, enclosed tidal swimming pool and two recreation reserves. the bay also boasts luch bushland surrounding Coonong Creekrunning right down to the river. Old School Park also has a children's playground, bike track and picnic area.
