Yowie Bay - Area Profile

History

Situated on a peninsula with the waters of Yowie Bay on one side, and Gymea Bay on the other, the suburb of Yowie Bay is almost entirely surrounded by water.

It is thought that the origin of the name 'Yowie Bay' came from an Aboriginal word meaning 'place of echoes'.

The suburb has been slowly developed since its being named in 1827. Most residences in Yowie Bay have excellent views, water frontage and boat-moorings.

Attractions

Despite being a small suburb, residents do not have to travel far for the essentials. Yowie Bay has a grocer and a liquor store.

For any other shopping needs, the neighboring suburbs of Caringbah and Miranda have plenty of options.

Being surrounded by water there are plenty of opportunities for sailing, canoeing and kayaking. There is also the Old Baths Reserve, where locals enjoy walking, cycling or going for a swim.

Real Estate

On the waterfront of Yowie Bay, you will find large, well-appointed homes boasting exceptional views. Yowie Bay also offers specious two-storey homes on large blocks as well as older style cottages.

For the more mature residents there is the Waterbrook Retirement Village.
