The days of the "quarter acre block" are all but over. So many of us are sitting on what may well be enough land for a few homes - by today's standards - either in the backyard or even off the side. Some questions to ask yourself are: How many homes could I build on my land? Could I keep the house and just put another home on it? Would it be better to get rid of the house and start over with all new homes? Is my property worth more as a home or as a development site? In my area what are the rules and requirements of subdivision? All very good questions that do not have any straight forward answers. Don't assume anything, you need an agent who has had extensive experience in this specialised area to give you the right advice.
