Mosman goes Plastic Free in July.

Plastic free July started as a local community initiative in Perths western suburbs in 2011 to educate residents on the important notion of reuse. Plastic free July aims to raise awareness of the amount of single use disposable plastic in our lives and challenges people to do something about it. You can sign up for a day, a week or the whole month and try refuse ALL single use plastic or try the TOP 4: plastic bags, water bottles, takeaway coffee cups and straws.

In 2016 Mosman Council is getting serious about single use plastic waste. Mosman Council is partnering with local businesses and schools to highlight the issues surrounding single use plastics and their persistence in our environment and is committing to weekly beach clean-up in July, a bag exchange by council staff, a toothbrush drive to collect dental products for recycling.

Raine & Horne Mosman supports the message Mosman Council is trying to get across in the local community:

Let’s work together to reduce single use plastic in our community!!! Together we can make a difference!

Why participate?

Do you know that Australians send 1 million tonnes of plastic to landfill each year and too much plastic ends up as litter? It has been estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastic, which require up to 500 to 1000 years for degradation, than fish in the world oceans. (www.pasticfreejuly.org)
