Pomona is notable for two things - the heritage-listed Majestic Theatre and the annual King of the Mountain race up Mount Cooroora. The Majestic, built in 1921, is claimed to be the world's oldest continuously operating silent movie theatre built for that purpose.

The Noosa Heads hinterland is rapidly becoming a magnet for people looking for a bush retreat offering bushland privacy and proximity to 'civilisation'. The Pomona region, with its secluded home sites just 25 minutes from the beach and within commuting distance of Brisbane, fits the bill.
