FESTIVE FUN: 5 UPCOMING 2017 INNER WEST FESTIVALS IN SYDNEY

Sydney’s Inner West is a hotbed of entertainment with ample local festivals year round. From food and wine to family-friendly entertainment, Inner West festivals always have something for everyone. Let’s look at some of the upcoming 2017 Inner West festivals in Sydney – for residents and non-residents alike.

Dulwich Hill Village Fair  

When: Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 10am to 4pm

The Dulwich Hill Village Fair is a medley of kids activities, entertainment, handicraft stalls, clothing shops, homemade meals and much more. This annual village fair is the perfect opportunity for a family day together. Schools, singers and martial art experts participate in live performances throughout the Fair. Kids will enjoy the play park with games, performances and shows on display.

 

Marrickville Festival

When: Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 10am to 5pm

Outfitted with over 120 stalls, the Marrickville Festival brings together food and entertainment into a vibrant celebration of diverse cultures and communities. The stalls sell local produce, gifts, home wares and much more. Live entertainment includes dance performances, singing and kids shows. This annual festival offers a range of activities for kids and the family to enjoy.

 

Norton Street Italian Festa in Leichhardt

When: Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 10am to 5pm

Tagged as the largest street festival in Australia, the Norton Street Italian Festa in Leichhardt is a celebration with nearly 100,000 attendees every year. Established on a 29-year tradition, there’s something for everyone at this street festival. Kids can enjoy animal farms, carnival rides and jumping castles. Adults will love the organic markets, dancing, cooking demonstrations and entertainment.

 

Summer Hill's Neighbourhood Feast

When: Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 10am to 4pm

Situated at Lackey and Smith Streets, there’s no better way to spend Sunday than at Summer Hill’s Neighbourhood Feast. Displaying a vibrant village atmosphere, patrons will enjoy a range of food varieties. There’s entertainment for the old and young, including pizza competitions, pop up beer gardens, cooking demonstrations and much more.

Perfect Match

When: 4 to 7 August 2017

The Perfect Match Public Art Program brings together budding Inner West artists, businesses and residents in a celebration of street art. The program allows residents to meet artists and learn more about local inspirations – from culture and heritage to lifestyle and innovation. Free events and tours will take place during the program weekend.

The Inner West festivals perfectly portray the vibrant lifestyle local residents enjoy. Other year round festivals include Bairro Português Petersham Food and Wine Fair and Carnival of Cultures in Ashfield every March.
