Lemon Tree Passage, which is attracting increasing numbers of retirees, is one of the prime secluded spots on the southern shore of a waterway now firmly established among the finest aquatic playgrounds on Australia's east coast.

The suburb has an enclosed tidal pool, boat ramp, boat hire, marina, police station, restaurants, cafes, bowling club, bottle shop, butcher, newsagency, pharmacy, motel, post office, community centre, library and takeaway food outlets. Raymond Terrace and Nelson Bay are short drives away, and there is a shopping centre in Salamander Bay.
