Port Lincoln is a coastal city situated on Boston Bay at the southern extremity of the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. It is the largest city in SA’s West Coast region, located about 280km (straight line - 646km by road) from Adelaide.

The city of Port Lincoln has a population of about 14,000, with all the advantages of a city large including industry, shopping and sport, but small enough to retain the friendliness of a small town.

Port Lincoln is perhaps the nation's biggest combined agricultural and fishing centre. Industries include the production of lambs, wool and beef, cereal crops including wheat, oats, barley, canola and lupins. There is a thriving aquaculture industry that farms tuna, kingfish, abalone, mussels, oysters, and experimental farming in seahorses and spiny lobsters.

Tourism is becoming increasingly important, thanks to the scenic beauty and coastal locality. Good access to both Spencer Gulf and the Great Australian Bight mark Port Lincoln as a blue water playground for yachting, scuba diving, shark cage diving and game fishing. The city also functions as a regional centre for government administration, corporate services and commerce to Eyre Peninsula, however, many state government functions are becoming more centralised in Adelaide.

During the past decade, housing demand has led to a boom in property development, both residential and commercial. A magnificent marina development, Lincoln Cove, is home to the tuna fishing fleets of the Great Australian Bight.

The Port Lincoln Health Services provides a modern 50 bed hospital complete with high dependency unit, renal dialysis, and operating facilities. A comprehensive community health department complements the acute services. There is also a 24 hour accident and emergency service.

Transport to Port Lincoln is by air, bus or vehicle. Port Lincoln is about 662kms from Adelaide, about 7-8 hour’s drive. The town is served by buses and taxis.

Port Lincoln is renowned for its fresh, high quality seafood and there are numerous cafes, hotels and restaurants.

Education facilities include the Flinders University Lincoln Marine Science Centre, Spencer Institute of TAFE (Port Lincoln Campus) and several primary and high schools.

Port Lincoln is home to the Tunarama Festival, held each January. This family event showcases the best in local seafood, wine, art and music, and includes the famous tuna tossing championships.
