Lithgow is situated about 150km north west of Sydney on the western side of the Blue Mountains. The city is surrounded by national parks, one of which (Blue Mountains National Park) is a World Heritage Area.

Lithgow is an historical town with a coal mining past. Today there’s less reliance on coal, but a link still exists with the nearby coal powered power stations, which provides employment.

Lithgow benefits from being the western terminus for City Rail’s intercity Blue Mountains electric railway line. City rail coaches are available to Central West centres such as Bathurst, Mudgee, Orange and Dubbo.

There is grocery and variety shopping in Lithgow’s CBD along, with a wide range of restaurants and cafes.

The city also has excellent sporting facilities including Tony Luchetti Sports Ground, Olympic class hockey fields, Marjorie Jackson Soccer and Cricket fields*, Basketball stadium, Wallerawang Indoor Sports and Netball Stadium, Lithgow Rifle Club and Heated Olympic Swimming Pool.
