Wyong is a suburb within the Wyong Shire local government area on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is approximately 89 kilometres from Sydney.
The word “Wyong” is an indigenous word meaning ‘an edible yam’ or ‘place of running water’. The Wyong district was home to the Darkinjung Australian Aboriginal tribe.
There are many beautiful beaches in the Wyong shire council area including Lakes Beach, Soldiers Beach, The Entrance North, The Entrance, Toowoon Bay and Shelley Beach, all of which are patrolled seven months of the year.
Village Central Wyong is the local shopping centre, open 7 days a week. The centre has a Coles supermarket, a pharmacy, newsagency, butcher, baker, hairdresser, liquor store and florist.
There are public, Christian and Catholic schools in the area, as well as a hospital.
