R&H Suburb Profile CABOOLTURE

Caboolture is a suburb about 50km north of Brisbane with a population of almost 140,000. It is considered the northern most urban part of the Brisbane metropolitan region, as the Brisbane suburban commuter railway service ends at Caboolture.

Formerly a small dairy town, Caboolture’s location between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast attracted a significant number of new residents in the 1970s and 1980s. Main reasons for the influx were the electrification of the railway line to Brisbane (reducing travel time to the CBD to less than an hour), improvement of the Bruce Highway to freeway standard, and cheap land.

Caboolture is well connected with other regions, with easy highway access to Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast via the Bruce Highway, connections across the Great Dividing Range via the D'Aguilar highway, and a major road to Bribie Island.

Caboolture railway station is the terminus for QR Citytrain's Caboolture railway line, as well as being a major stop on the North Coast railway line. Citytrain operates regular services to Brisbane, Nambour and Gympie, with significant expansion of services north of Caboolture planned over the next decade. The area is serviced by two bus companies. Caboolture also contains its own airfield which mainly services general and recreation alaviation.

There are several primary and high schools, as well as public and private hospitals.

Country music star Keith Urban grew up in Caboolture and the city hosts a country music festival and a ute muster each year.
