R&H Suburb Profile CHERMSIDE

Chermside is a suburb about 10km north of Brisbane's CBD. It is a key destination along Queensland Transport's future Northern Busway.

Chermside is one of Brisbane’s busiest suburbs and is home to the city's largest Westfield shopping centre housing a three-storey Myer, 16-screen cinema complex, bowling alley and the Chermside Bus Station. There is also a diverse range of shops and offices on busy Gympie Road and a wide variety of restaurants and cafes.

Chermside's population was more than 6300 at the 2006 census. The suburb is experiencing rapid growth, with a growing number of apartments and sizable developments around the shopping centre.

Due to its strong infrastructure, facilities and good public transport, the area has been tipped as a future 'mini CBD' of Brisbane. The planned Northern Busway will further enhance public transport. Chermside is just over 11km from Brisbane Airport.

Chermside is home to Prince Charles Hospital and Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital. There are also several primary and high schools in and around the suburb.
