INTERVIEW WITH OUR MANAGING DIRECTOR, MARIO ELEZOVIC

Do you want exceptional sales results? Then experience is paramount.  Introducing our Managing Director, Mario Elezovic. He’s been in Real Estate for 30 years & managing Raine & Horne Brunswick for 20 years. Achieving record prices & having sold in excess of 1800 properties in his time, you can understand why his office is in the top 10 percent of the highest performing Raine & Horne offices in Australia (that’s out of 300+ offices).

Having grown up in Fitzroy North, Mario has lived throughout the Northern suburbs his entire life “My wife & I brought up our two daughters here, we love the cosmopolitan feel of Northside and we have experienced firsthand the gentrification of the area. With an array of top eateries and nightlife venues, the best fresh produce, great local shopping… homewares & fashion we’re spoilt for choice, and not to mention being only 6kms out of the CBD. I love Northside.”

We had a chat with Mario about how he got into Real Estate, why he loves it & what he knows are the most important considerations & questions to ask when selecting an agent to sell your most valuable asset.

WHY DO YOU LOVE IT?

I get an enormous sense of satisfaction when I meet people with a set of requirements and help them find their dream home or ideal investment property. On the other side of it, it’s my job to take care of the most valuable asset in people’s lives, their family home or investment property. I always do my absolute best for each and every one of my clients. I believe in hard work, integrity, and family values. One thing that gives me an endless source of inspiration is the everlasting loyalty and friendship between my clients and I. I often receive calls from past clients seeking advice, regarding purchasing investment properties or to upgrading from their existing home or to down size. People never forget an outstanding positive experience and old school respect. What I love the most about my job in real estate is that you walk into people’s lives and you become part of the family.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO REAL ESTATE?

As a kid when I was asked “What do you want to be when you grow up.” My answer was always the same, “A business man.” But truth be told, Real Estate was not my first choice & I never imagined this would be my career path.  At 17 years old I convinced my father to allow me to leave high-school, give me a loan & with that I started a jean shop. I was living it up and within 2 years opened my third store with goals of opening them all around Melbourne & Australia. But there was something missing for me, there was lack of deeper connection and I felt I needed something more challenging, something greater. At this stage I was still only 21 and thought I knew how the world ticked. I made the decision to sell the jean shops and shortly after this my best friend Vincent Trombi who had just commenced a career in Real Estate introduced me to Randolph Clements –now the managing director of Raine & Horne, Victoria.  We had an interview locked in but I foolishly missed it. What I didn’t know then was that because I missed the first interview Randolph had already decided that he wouldn’t employ me no matter how the second interview would go. On the day of the interview he put me through a 2 and a half hour grilling session, asking the toughest questions imaginable. At the end of the interview he looked at me & said, “When can you start I want you on my team.” In my first month of real estate I sold 8 properties. It’s safe to say I fell in love and I never looked back again.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WHEN PICKING AN AGENT?

The first thing is you must feel comfortable with the agent you’ve appointed. And the comfortability comes from trust. From that first moment when you discuss the possibility of working together, you will know if that agent is right for you. And the second most important thing is picking an agent who has the actual capability to produce the sale for you.

How do you find out if they’re capable? Well there are a few crucially important questions to ask.

What is their track record? Have their achievements been recognised, what awards do they have? How extensive is your agent’s knowledge of the area? Do they live in or close to the area?

Are they backed up by a dedicated team of professionals who all have their real estate licence too? How long have the sales agents in their team been operating? For example every agent in our team has each been operating for over 15 years & for us it is necessary for them to display characteristics such as passion, dedication, honesty & a healthy hunger to succeed.

You need to ask yourself, how will my property be advertised & marketed to potential buyers? Will it be a cookie cutter approach or tailored to my unique needs? Does the agent have their own in house social media manager & separate advertising specialist?  The social media movement is an area we have excitedly embraced & we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of it. You must also ask, does your agent know where best to put your advertising dollar to guarantee the right people see your listing & you get instant responses? Does the agent have an extensive email database of potential buyers who they can promote your property too? Our database has 10,000 people & growing strong.

When it comes to your money, does the agent have their own in house accountant? So that there is only one person who deals with your accounts instead of it being passed between many.

Where is their office located is & what does it look like? It is very easy to instantly see from an outsider’s perspective whether or not an office is successful in what they do or not based on this. Our office is strategically located to maximise enquiries & our million dollar fit out ensures that our clients get  5 star service but it also guarantees we attract only the very best agents in the industry.

And lastly, is your agent available? Do you feel you could call them at any time & always be responded to with patience.

At the end of all this, you will know whether or not the agent has the experience necessary to be able to sell your home with confidence.

I welcome all enquires and look forward helping new and existing clients with all real-estate matters.
