• adding a tray will add some practicality & stylish purpose
• use a small stack of books to elevate some decor
• add some life with a small plant or vase of flowers, set right in the center
• add small quirky, favorite finds to create character but maintain balance remember less is more
• display items at different heights, ie; candles or vases - when all items are at the same eye level, nothing gets noticed
• the age-old rule of threes comes in handy
• make seasonal swap outs - rotate seasonal decorative elements
