Five Dock

Five Dock is in Sydney’s inner-west, 10km from the CBD, in the City of Canada Bay local government area. An older but increasingly popular suburb, Five Dock offers spectacular night-time views of the city, to which it is linked both by a network of major roads and ferries.

Housing in Five Dock comprises mainly detached dwellings, many with generously sized gardens. Five Dock has well-preserved examples of Australian Federation architecture and California Bungalow style residences. There is a diverse range of other architectural styles in Five Dock, including Italian and Greek influences.

Five Dock boasts excellent dining. Its retail and commercial centre comprises a long line of shops, banks, cafes, restaurants and other services along Great North Road. There are dozens of small businesses, from hairdressers, florists and dentists to hardware stores, accountants and delis.

Major regional roads that run through or adjoin Five Dock include Parramatta Road, Lyons Road, Queens Road, Great North Road and the City West Link. Five Dock is well-connected to the CBD and surrounding suburbs by public bus routes. The closest railway stations are Ashfield and Croydon, both about 2.5 km from the main shopping centre. The major suburban station of Strathfield is also within close driving distance. There are ferry services to the city from the nearby suburbs of Drummoyne, Chiswick and Abbotsford.

A myriad of waterside parks and strategically placed boatramps ensure locals and visitors can fully enjoy their environment. Five Dock has two separate stretches of publicly accessible foreshore on the Parramatta River, as well as several parks.

Five Dock’s schools include All Hallows' Parish School, Domremy College, Five Dock Public School, Lucas Gardens School and Rosebank College.
