The following established fruit trees, require little more than a summer prune after fruiting for the stone fruits, and the odd clip for the citrus.

In addition, Lillypilly berries from outside the bedroom are used to make a clear jam (jelly). Tree specimens were selected so that fruiting was staggered, instead of all fruiting at the peak of summer or winter meaning that fruit is available from the yard almost all year round.
Herbs like oregano, thyme, parsley and mint are always in the yard and each season rocket and coriander grow wild in the veggie patches from seeds from the previous years crops.
Veggies, herbs and fruit normally grown in the warmer parts of the year from seed in the veggie patches include sweet corn, snowpeas, tomatoes, capsicums, pumpkins, cucumbers, watermelons, lettuce, basil, garlic, onion and egg plants along with the self-seeded rocket and coriander. In winter the table is filled with broccoli, various greens and beans and generally loads of pumpkin from the stack stored on top of the tank outside. Even after feeding the family and freezing, dehydrating etc produce for use out of season there is always plenty to share with friends. It’s amazing how much produce can be grown successfully in the three garden beds with minimal effort. Note that my water bill even after looking after the yard still shows our usage is much less than for a standard household with the same number of people.
