Originally farming land and vineyards, Woodcroft has become one of the fastest developing suburbs in the south. It houses many facilities including the Woodcroft Town and Shopping Centre, Woodcroft Market Plaza, The Vines Golf Course, Woodcroft Tourist Park and Mount Hurtle Winery. There are two distinct areas in Woodcroft, the older area around Woodcroft Plaza and the newer high-class areas to the east of Sir James Hardy Way of Mt Hurtle Estate, Glenloth Estate and Woodcroft Farm.
Another coastal suburb is Hallett Cove, with adjoining suburbs of Marion, Trott Park and Sheidow Park. It now features the newly refurbished Hallett Cove Shopping Centre with underground car park, food court, major department store and two supermarkets. The Hallett Cove Conservation Park also features many Aboriginal artefacts, glacial ridges and significant geological structures.
