'Diesel trees' the good oil for powering the future

Wonga Beach ideas man Rod Miller and his team have planted 20,000 'diesel trees' around Lockhart river in the past two years and he would like to plant 1,000,000 more.

Each tree yields around 40 litres of oil per year from the seed of the pongo tree, an Australian native that has been used as a source of lamp oil and medicine in India for more than a century.

Mr Miller has a Toyota Landcruiser that has done 240,000km on biodiesel and claims that by using this fuel  it will extend the service life of your vehicle.
