Port Douglas restaurant wins prestigious award

Harrison's Bar and Grill in Port Douglas scooped the Queensland award for best new restaurant at the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence in Brisbane this week.

Spencer Patrick, owner of Harrison's an father of the eponymous Harrison, said the award was great recognition for the town.

"Port Douglas is starting to get noticed as a gourmet destination, not just a place to see the reef and the rainforest," he said.

Mr Patrick said he could not have achieved the award without his hard-working team behind him.

The restaurant was also recently recommended by Gourmet Traveller magazine for its wine list, and will now compete against the best new restaurants in Australia.
