Stewart Creek Valley is located near the Daintree Township. 111 kilometres north of Cairns and 56 Kilometres north of Port Douglas. This area was known for its Dairy farming but now Beef farming and tourism has became a significant local employer.
The township consists of a general store with its huge fibreglass ‘Big Barramundi’ a few restaurants, caravan park, school, a number of river and rainforest tour operators, timber museum, woodworking shop as well as an exhibition of carpenter’s and cabinet-maker’s tools and techniques.
Surrounded by mountain views and backed onto the rainforests, which contain some of the rarest flora and fauna in the world. Species such as Bennett’s tree kangaroo, the musk rat kangaroo, ancient ferns, and exotic rhododendrons of Asiatic origin are unique to this area.
