Resorts to the rescue
Resorts, hotels and accommodation houses have jumped on board an initiative to offer temporary accommodation to Queenslanders displaced from their homes in the flood crisis, the Gazette reports this week.
With many residents unable to return to their homes or communities in the immediate future, Tourism Tropical North Queensland has launched an emergency accommodation register to assist those in greatest need. Qantas and Virgin Blue will fly people to Tropical North Queensland where hundreds of accommodation houses are willing to open their doors, FREE OF CHARGE, to flood victims.
Accommodation houses signed up in support of flood victims in the Douglas shire are:
Sea Temple Resort and Spa, Mandalay Luxury Apartments, Sheraton Mirage Resort, Paradise Links Resort, Daintree Eco Lodge, Mercure Treetops Resort, Mantra Portsea, Peppers Beach Club, Port Douglas Beachfront Resort, Beaches, Mowbray by the Sea, , Port Douglas Getaway, The Outrigger Resort, Mantra Aqueous in Port Douglas, Demi-View Motel, Martinique on Macrossan, Nautilus Holiday Apartments.
