Sustainable living on display

This year’s annual Sustainable Living Expo will be a hub for information on how to live well while reducing human impact on our tropical environment.

Cairns Regional Council in partnership with Tropical North Queensland TAFE is sponsoring the event to be held at the TAFE campus, this Sunday.

Mayor Val Schier said the popularity of the event over the last two years reflected community desire for knowledge about how to achieve a more sustainable lifestyle.

“There are just so many businesses in the Cairns region that provide alternative power sources, organic food, environmentally sound building materials and advice and solutions for recycling and waste,” Cr Schier said.

More than 35 exhibitors will take part in the Expo offering products, services and information on tips and tools for reducing your carbon footprint. More that ten free interactive workshops covering a range of sustainability issues initiative and practices will be presented throughout the day. The winning entries in the recycled sculpture competition entered by schools across the region will be on display.

Live entertainment, face painting and music throughout the day will ensure the Expo has something for everyone.

“It will be an inspiring day out with plenty to be learned about reducing our impact on the environment,” Cr Schier said

The Sustainable Living Expo will be held at the TNQ TAFE campus Gatton St 10am- 4pm Sunday, August 22.
