BUYING VS BUILDING

To buy or to build, that is the question

So you've decided to become a home owner. Do you buy an existing property or build your own?

Both have advantages & disadvantages.

If you build, you must be prepared to spend a lot of time discussing with your builder or architect exactly what you want, and making sure they have it straight. Invariably there are delays. You'll need to prepare a garden from scratch, and buy furnishings such as curtains, carpets and light fittings. However, once the build is completed your home will include everything you want/need.

On the other hand, buying an established property – unless it is relatively new or completely renovated – will mean you will be up for additional expenses such as re-wiring, re-plumbing, painting, decorating, and other jobs will need doing at some stage. And unless you're lucky, you'll always find something not quite to your liking – something you'll want to fix and therefore involve additional expense.
