When you are looking around at property managers it is a good idea to meet a few to find someone that you are comfortable with.

After all they are going to be looking after a valuable asset for you.

Here are 10 questions I'd recommend you ask your prospective property manager:

1. What are the upfront charges for listing a rental with you?

2. Are there any hidden costs?

3. Guaranteed contact on maintenance matters.

4. Screening tenants, will your property manager give you a copy of the qualifying questions? Is the process explained?

5. What happens if the tenant doesn't pay their rent? What is your procedure?

6. Do you have licensed & insured tradespeople on call?

7. Routine inspections, how often to you go & how will I know you went?

8. Payments & statements.

9.  How long has the property manager been in their position?

10.  What happens if your property manager is not available?
