One of the Adelaide Hills best kept secrets, along a no-through road, this area was originally referred to by locals as ‘Cotton Town’. The ‘blocks’ were first made available by Mr Cotton M.L.C. Records show that Mrs Rollbusch was the first to purchase ‘block’ 238 in 1888 (however, Council records show that Herman Rollbusch owned the allotment prior to 1888). Section 238 housed the Rollbusch family in an early settlers two-roomed wattle and daub shack, internally lined with jute bags for insulation. Later a more comfortable four roomed ‘Rollbusch Cottage’ was built on section 242 (next door). Remnants of the shack remain, the old stone lined well has since been filled in, however still clearly defined.
The allotment was sold on a few more times, until in 1954 W.B. Kerber purchased the allotment. Today, after 65 years of ownership by the Kerber family, section 238 is now offered to the open market.
Power runs along the boundary (not connected) and access to Size Road is via Walters road or off of Shillabeer road.
This blank canvas eagerly awaits rejuvenation. Here it is, a country lifestyle property offering near city convenience and a fabulous outlook – A rare offering in today’s market place.
