PARRAMATTA LIGHT RAIL – NEW RAIL STOP NAMES CONFIRMED

The Parramatta Light Rail will run approximately 12 kilometres from Westmead to Carlingford, passing through the Parramatta CBD and Camellia. It is planned to open in 2023. The line will connect Parramatta's CBD and train station to the Westmead Health Precinct, Cumberland Hospital Precinct, CommBank Stadium, and the Camellia Town Centre, among other places.

 Following considerable community input, the NSW Government has revealed the official names of the 16 light rail stops along Stage 1 of the $2.4 billion Parramatta Light Rail. The final length of track has been installed throughout Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1's 12-kilometer course, with preliminary work on the first light rail stop already starting. A list of proposed names had been submitted to the Geographical Names Board in 2020.

 The Stage 1 stop names include:

* Westmead * Parramatta Square
* Westmead Hospital * Robin Thomas
* Childrens Hospital * Tramway Avenue
* Ngara * Rosehill Gardens
* Benaud Oval * Yallamundi
* Fennell Street * Dundas
* Prince Alfred Square * Telopea
* Church Street * Carlingford

Stage 2 of the project will connect to the future Metro West and heavy rail in Parramatta and Sydney Olympic Park as well as the ferry services of Rydalmere and Wentworth Point. By 2026, 28,000 people are expected to use the Parramatta Light Rail on a daily basis, with 130,000 people living within walking distance of the above-mentioned locations. This critical piece of infrastructure will support and contribute to Western Sydney's continued expansion.
