While Sydney may be known for its famous beaches, there’s plenty of other popular pastimes on offer, with many favouring a leisurely stroll around the local markets as the perfect way to spend a Saturday or Sunday morning. Here are 7 of our favourite Inner West markets every Sydneysider should visit on the weekend!

 

Glebe Markets

Saturday, 10am - 4pm, Corner of Derby Place and Glebe Point Road, Glebe (Glebe Public School Grounds)

Balmain Market

Rozelle Collectors Markets

Saturday & Sunday, 9am - 3pm, 663 Darling Street, Rozelle (Rozelle Public School)

Orange Grove Organic Food Markets

Saturday, 8am - 1pm, Corner of Perry Street & Balmain Road, Leichhardt (Orange Grove Public School)

Featuring only fresh, organic food, the Orange Grove Organic Food Markets are where foodies go to mingle whilst stocking up their kitchen with wholesome, nourishing food for the week ahead. Held every Saturday, this artisan-style community markets features a range of delicious items to tantalise your tastebuds, including freshly baked bread, delectable pastries and of course a selection of fresh, organic seasonal produce.

 

Newtown Community Market

Saturday, 10am - 4pm, Newtown Town Square 

Known predominantly for its original and vintage style fashion, the Newtown Community Market brings together an eclectic range of goods and people. With a real sense for the local community, these markets are held weekly on Saturdays as a way to raise money for community projects, and you’ll often find local buskers scattered amongst the stalls, providing free entertainment for attendees and adding to the community vibe that is so strong here.

 

Organic Food Market

Sunday, 7:30am - 3pm, 142 Addison Road, Marrickville (Addison Road Community Centre)

Sydney Flower Markets

Saturday, 5am - 11am, 250-318 Parramatta Rd, Homebush West

Hundreds of Sydney locals flock to the Flower Markets in Flemington each weekend to take in the pure beauty of the freshly cut blooms. These markets are steeped in Sydney’s history, having been started during the time of the first fleet.
