David Marriner to showcase Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas

THE man who will rebuild the Sheraton Mirage will meet political and business leaders to share his vision on the multi-million makeover of the Port Douglas resort.

New Sheraton owner David Marriner will host next Thursday’s meet and greet along with the Port Douglas and Mossman Chambers of Commerce and Tourism Port Douglas Daintree.

A survey of business owners and tourism operators will be circulated in the next week to gauge opinions on issues including valuations and Strata Title insurance increases.

Opposition treasury spokesman Joe Hockey has confirmed he will attend the meeting but Federal Opposition Leader Tony Abbott can no longer make it due to commitments in Canberra as a result of the release of the Government’s carbon tax package on Sunday.

"It’s important that we keep this meeting so we can talk about the way the banks are treating these businesses," Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch told The Cairns Post yesterday.
