STEVEN Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Glenn Close were all reportedly on location there, now for just $2.5 million one lucky buyer can snap up a pristine beachfront property in north Queensland.

The 41 ha site, just 20 minutes north of Port Douglas, was used for the 2010 mini-series The Pacific plus the high-budget feature film South Pacific in 2001.

Belle Property Cairns principal Nicholas Slatyer said the mortgagee sale would end one family's decades-long hold on the property.

Mr Slatyer said the crew for The Pacific were filming for several months and parts of the site was revegetated to suit the production.

While the fully-fenced rural property could be used for a small amount of grazing, he expected it would be sold to a lifestyle buyer seeking privacy and the opportunity to build a large family home.

The property has about 500m of beachfront - believed to be the largest in north Queensland - with deepwater access.

Mr Slatyer said it was one of the few local properties where "grass meets white sand" and there was no vegetation barrier to the beach.

"Most of Port Douglas you can't see the beach," he said. "But this is manicured grass. When the tide goes out in Cairns City you get mudflats - you don't here."

On site are two houses; an original home built in 1964 and a guest cottage added in 1989. Both are reported to be in a sound and usable condition.

Despite its rural location, the property is also connected to town water and power.

Comments: Local Port Douglas agent David Cotton of Raine & Horne said the property represents good value. Our agency has jst sold a few Beachfront properties in and around the area and although this property is 40 minutes North of Port there is no other like it on the market at the moment.
