Home affordability in Far North Queensland’s Daintree region has precipitated the opening of the new Raine & Horne Port Douglas office, located at 4/1 Macrossan Street, Port Douglas.

Focusing on residential real estate and holiday homes in the popular tourist hub, Raine & Horne Port Douglas was launched by principal Travis Schumacher and his business partner David Cotton, who also operate the successful Raine & Horne Mossman.

According to Mr Schumacher, the region’s combination of affordable homes and a perennially popular holiday route are driving the property market in Mossman and Port Douglas.

“Our Mossman office has been performing well, but there was an opportunity to extend our service and offer something new to buyers in the Port Douglas market," Mr Schumacher said.

“This led to us launching the new Raine & Horne Port Douglas, and with our fantastic salespeople we are confident the Raine & Horne brand will secure a greater market share in this region.”

It’s also a great time to buy an idyllic Far North Queensland home according to Mr Schumacher.

“There are some excellent opportunities available right now – for instance, we can offer three bedroom homes close to the water in Wonga Beach for around $250,000, and this represents fantastic value.”

But the range of beautiful homes in Port Douglas itself should also be on the priority list for homebuyers, he said.

“We have beautiful four bedroom homes with full air conditioning on large blocks for around $400,000.

“If you want to pay a bit more, we have properties overlooking the golf course or the water for between $750,000 and $800,000 – these would have been priced around the $1 million mark a few years ago.”

The value extends into the unit market as well, with units close to the Raine & Horne office in Macrossan Street available for as little as $200,000.

“I sometimes stand in a home during an inspection and pinch myself at what good value these properties are for the money,” Mr Schumacher said.
