POTTS POINT COMMUNITY GIVES BACK

The Curran Foundation is a cause that is close to both our director Jane Schumann and the Potts Point Community's heart.

Founded in 1857 by the Sisters of Charity, St Vincent's Hospital is one of Australia's most iconic Hospitals, which functions as a full service acute public teaching hospital and state referral centre as well as the local hospital for our Eastern Suburbs community.

Throughout history, St Vincent's has led the community through the most challenging times in health. From the Spanish Influenza when the Sisters repurposed the wards and cancelled routine surgery to the HIV Aid pandemic when we immediately stepped up to the challenge, opening Ward 17 South, the first HIV/AIDS ward in Australia.

St Vincent's Hospital Sydney has again stepped up to care for and protect the health of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic being one of the first hospitals to set up pop up testing clinics in our local areas and providing rapid testing results. In our quest to deliver excellent healthcare for all people, the St Vincent's Curran Foundation seeks to bridge government funding gaps for St Vincent's Hospitals and Facilities in New South Wales. The generous support of individuals, community groups and businesses allows our doctors and nurses at St Vincent's to deliver exceptional patient care, innovative medical research and provide clinical education, particularly for the vulnerable and needy. This year, as we celebrate International Year of the Nurse and Florence Nightingale's 200th birthday, we are reminded of the vital role these unsung heroes play in ensuring the health and safety of all through these challenging times and the following could not be more true: "Save one life you're a hero, save one hundred, you're a nurse."
