About Pyrmont

Pyrmont is an inner-city suburb 2km of south-west of Sydney's CBD, in the local government area of the City of Sydney. Pyrmont was once a vital component of Sydney's industrial waterfront, with wharves, shipbuilding yards, factories and wool stores. Union Square is a major heritage precinct, with many buildings listed on the Register of the National Estate.. In recent years it has experienced redevelopment with an influx of residents and office workers.

The Pyrmont Bridge (used only by pedestrians) and Sydney Monorail (via Darling Harbour) link Pyrmont with the city. The Anzac Bridge is a large cable-stayed bridge spanning Johnstons Bay between Pyrmont and Rozelle. Star City Casino sits on Pyrmont’s Darling Harbour waterfront, while the Sydney Fish Market is on Blackwattle Bay. On the northern part of the peninsula is Jackson's Landing, a residential and commercial property development. Shopping is mainly on Harris Street, including everyday stores such as a bottle shop, deli, patisserie and convenience and hardware stores, and the nearby Broadway Shopping Centre. Other options include the Sydney Fish Market for seafood and the Good Living Growers' Market, held on the morning of the first Saturday of every month.
