Raine & Horne back on top of the mountains

Media release - 8th October, 2015

Superbrand Raine & Horne is expanding its reach in the NSW Blue Mountains with a new office at Katoomba.

Raine & Horne Katoomba will be led by Glen Ebzery, principal of nearby Raine & Horne Leura, which launched in 2013.

Raine & Horne Katoomba“Katoomba property owners have been left high and dry by the other major real estate networks with only a handful of independent offices operating in the local market,” said Angus Raine, Executive Chairman of Raine & Horne.

“It’s been proven time and again that property consumers and investors prefer to do business with a name they recognise, such as Raine & Horne.

“With a good mix of out-of-area buyers snapping up Katoomba real estate, along with locals, we are confident the brand recognition offered by Raine & Horne, and the professionalism of Glen and his team, will help local vendors draw attention to their properties.”

The opening of Raine & Horne Katoomba will prove the perfect foil to his business in Leura, says Mr Ebzery.

“Katoomba property owners prefer to work with a locally-based real estate office rather a business based down the road in Leura,” said Mr Ebzery.

“That said, local Katoomba vendors like the fact that their properties will also be showcased in Leura thanks to our presence there.”

In recent times, self-managed superfunds and pre-retirees have dominated the Katoomba market due to the historic town’s real estate affordability and improving infrastructure.

Entry-level 4-bedroom houses with a double garage in North Katoomba start from $500,000 and rent for $500 a week, according to Mr Ebzery.

“Katoomba’s affordability, along with the ongoing improvements to the Great Western Highway, is slowly reducing commuter times from the Mountains to the City and making it more attractive for commuters, investors and owner-occupiers,” said Mr Ebzery.

The experienced Brenton Ebzery will lead the sales team at Raine & Horne Katoomba, and real estate specialist Carole Deiley will spearhead property management.

“With Brenton leading the team at Raine & Horne Katoomba and my other son Kyle working at Raine & Horne Leura, being part of the family-owned and operated Raine & Horne makes plenty of sense.

“It was great to have Angus Raine at our office launch recently and Raine & Horne Katoomba is part of a successful family business, so we feel we complement each other,” said Mr Ebzery.

“It’s also fabulous to be part of a network with more than 300 offices in Australia, Asia and the Middle East and it means that a house in Katoomba could easily be sold to buyers in Double Bay, Darwin or Dubai.

He added, “Our independent competitors in Katoomba can’t compete with the global marketing reach, systems and technology offered by a property powerhouse such as Raine & Horne and local real estate consumers will be the winners.”
