Located near the centre of town, on the corner of First & Fifth Street of the magnificent tourist town of Quorn is Quorn Autoport. This is one of the town’s few service stations with three fuel bowsers and one LPG bowser. The store sells everything from coffee and hot chocolate to confectionery and ice creams, Akubra’s, jackets, and camping gear. Offering Swap’n’Go gas bottles, BBQ gas refills, household gas bottles and key cutting services, the store is fundamental part of the local community.
As part of the Sprint Autoparts group the business retails spare parts for cars and other machinery. Attached to the store is a large mechanical workshop (only operating weekdays) with a four post and two post hoist, tyre changer, wheel balancer and aligner, air conditioning recharge stations, and everything a mechanic needs to service customers’ cars. Providing spare parts, batteries, tyres, re-gasing air conditioners, and general mechanical repairs to the community and passers’ through, Quorn Autoport has also been an RAA Roadside Repairer for many years. It is also the local freight drop off point, creating some additional income.
Approximately three and half hours from Adelaide and 40 kilometres from Port Augusta on the fringe of the outback, Quorn is the home of the internationally famous Pichi Richi Railway and is a mecca for train buffs. 90% of people travelling to the Flinders Ranges will pass through Quorn. The town has been in regular use by film makers to create a period atmosphere and many iconic films and the business is sometimes used as a location for filming.
This beautiful spot is the ideal place to put down roots and become an integral part of a great local community.
