R&H Suburb Profile MERMAID BEACH

Mermaid Beach is a suburb of Queensland’s Gold Coast, a few kilometres from Surfers Paradise. The suburb is a comfortable walk from Broadbeach, where high-fashion shops and a wide range of restaurants border the sand and surf of Kurrawa Beach, the home of the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships. The suburb offers magnificent beachfront and great breaks for surfers.

Mermaid Beach is bounded to the west by the artificial canals of adjacent Mermaid Waters and to the east by the Pacific Ocean. To the north is the suburb of Broadbeach, to the south Miami. The Gold Coast Highway passes through Mermaid Beach. The Gold Coast Oceanway travels along Hedges Avenue, often referred to as "millionaire’s row" of beachfront homes.

A monorail links Broadbeach to Jupiters Casino, next to Pacific Fair, one of Australia's largest yet most relaxed shopping centres.

Other Gold Coast sporting attractions include a world-ranked marathon, national triathlons, the Magic Millions racing and yearling sale carnival, and one of the few street-circuit races on the Indy Car international motor-racing calendar.

Mermaid Beach residents are served by many schools and hospitals.
