Nambour is a thriving regional town in South East Queensland, 101km north of Brisbane, in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast. Enviably positioned between the mountains and the sea, it is the administrative centre of the Sunshine Coast Region.

Nambour is one of the Sunshine Coast’s fastest growing districts, with residents enjoying sub-tropical, semi-rural living with all the facilities and comforts of a larger town, without the hassles.

Nambour's traditional primary industry has been sugar, with extensive cane fields surrounding the town until the Moreton Sugar Mill closed in 2003. More recent industries include tourism and tropical fruit, with tourist attractions such as The Big Pineapple and The Big Macadamia Nut reflecting both of these pursuits.

Nambour is a short drive to the Sunshine Coast beaches of Maroochydore and Mooloolaba and is home to a range of eclectic shopping experiences, parks, a waterfall, museum, registered clubs and more. There is also a good mix of business, health, education, events and entertainment.  The town is a popular destination for the ‘green change’ phenomenon. Nambour is just an hour’s drive north of Brisbane, with access by car, bus, train and plane.

Nambour has public and private hospitals, as well as several schools.

Nambour is known as the place where tennis star Pat Rafter made his debut.  Other famous people born in Nambour include Rugby League player Billy Slater, surfer Joel Parkinson, Bindi Irwin, golfer Ian Baker-Finch and Powderfinger drummer Jon Coghill.
