Surfers Paradise

With its ample offerings for young and old, Surfers Paradise is out to prove it’s no longer just for the night owls.

The jewel in the crown of the Gold Coast is undoubtedly Surfers Paradise, one of the country’s most recognised destinations. The surfside suburb has been a tourism hot spot since the 1920s, when Brisbane hotelier Jim Cavill purchased 10 hectares of land in the then-named Elston. Now named the far more appropriate Surfers Paradise, the district comes fringed by pristine coastline and reliable swell, though it is best known for the skyscrapers that dominate the skyline and the even more famous bikini-clad meter maids.
