Raine & Horne is on track in Maryborough

DECEMBER 1, 2021

Raine & Horne Tin Can Bay principal Celly Jeal has launched a second office in the rapidly expanding city of Maryborough.

The move to open Raine & Horne Maryborough comes just 18 months after Ms Jeal’s decision to take the reins at the well-established Tin Can Bay office. “To takeover Raine & Horne Tin Can Bay during the COVID Pandemic and back it up by opening a second office is a phenomenal effort from Celly and her team,” said Angus Raine, Executive Chairman, Raine & Horne.

“Celly has shown she is prepared to get on with the job no matter what the challenges. I look forward to supporting her move into Maryborough, which is on the cusp of a mini-infrastructure boom, which will underpin jobs growth and real estate activity over the next few years.”

Early sales and infrastructure wins for Maryborough

Raine & Horne Maryborough will be a full-service office providing sales and property management services. Ms Jeal has already secured a property sale in the rapidly expanding port town. The meticulously maintained Queenslander at 204 Fort Street, Maryborough[i] was purchased by a downsizer from Melbourne for $425,000.

“We have decided to launch in Maryborough because we see this as the next big market in the Wide Bay–Burnett area, particularly as there are some major infrastructure projects slated for the area,” Ms Jeal said.

“For example, ASX Listed heavyweight EDI Downer’s iconic rail manufacturing facility at Maryborough has won a massive $7.1 billion contract to build 65 trains[ii].”

The Queensland Government estimates the rail investment will deliver a pipeline of work over the next decade to support up to 800 construction and manufacturing jobs in Maryborough.

“This rail project will support preparations for the Brisbane Olympics in 2032, while we are also seeing major investment in road improvements between this region and the Sunshine Coast, which will ensure more people visit and move to this region to live given our excellent real estate affordability.”

 Here come the sea changers

Maryborough is under two hours to the Sunshine Coast and just over three hours by car to Brisbane. Ms Jeal commented, “We are already seeing sea changers moving to Maryborough from Brisbane as it is still possible to buy affordable property here.”

Ms Jeal is also excited by what Raine & Horne will bring to the Maryborough market. “We are going to bring back good old fashioned customer service backed with the latest in digital market and AI technologies,” she said.

“We did some mystery shopping to measure the quality of real estate sales and service and discovered there is a gap in the market in Maryborough, which we are very confident we can fill.

“We also met plenty of local business owners as part of the fit-out for our new location at 389 Kent Street, and they told us we would do very well in Maryborough, which is very encouraging.”

While Ms Jeal and her team will bring a new level of customer service to Maryborough’s real estate market, they also come armed with the latest marketing technologies. “We will continue to use Amplify to market our property listings through social media platforms and provide appraisals using Raine & Horne’s first-to-market digital listing tool, Digikit.”

Ms Jeal is excited to be opening a second office under the Raine & Horne banner. “When it comes to support from Head office, you can’t fault it. The Queensland team led by state manager Steve Worrad never leave any stone unturned when it comes to supporting their principals.”

Looking ahead to 2022, Ms Jeal believes the combination of infrastructure investment and Maryborough’s affordability will continue to attract buyers from the southern states and Brisbane.

“We have a median price in Maryborough of $265,000, although we have homes valued in the $700,000s. These prices won’t last, and I believe given road improvements and the fact there are some massive residential developments on the drawing board,  2022 will be a growth year for the Maryborough real estate market.”
