Local Schools

Woodend Primary School
The school provides a quality program of core skills as its first priority, then offers a range of subjects and activities to extend students’ abilities. We encourage students to take more and more responsibility for themselves and their learning. In today’s world they need to be good learners so they can keep on learning.

Our students are kept busy. we want them to develop a variety of interests and to experience success at their own level in a full range of social, physical and cultural activities. we like them to move out into the community and to benefit from the skills and talents of parents. This means teachers need to be rather lively too. Ours are.

The school is a community. Our students learn that caring means looking after their own health and wellbeing, working with and for others and protecting their environment. So caring is just something you do every day. We want our  students to take these values and habits out into the world. It needs them.

If you would like to find out more, come and visit the school and talk to our children. We think you’ll be impressed.

Gisborne Montessori School

The Montessori environment provides a balance of individual and group work, challenges and support, choice and appropriate limits, independence and collaboration. The children learn respect for oneself, each other, the environment and the community.

The Gisborne Montessori School opened in 2000. With a strong and increasing student population, a permanent 10 acre campus was purchased and the school moved to the first of three purpose built, environmentally sustainable school buildings in 2005. An increasing number of parents are now moving to Gisborne to enable their children to attend the school.

The school now caters for children from ages 2.5 to 12 years old.

There are many myths surrounding Montessori schooling. To truly understand a Montessori school it really needs to be seen in operation. More information is available on our website.

All our general multipurpose classrooms are carpeted, heated and comfortable. The VCE students have their own separate classrooms, dedicated study areas and a common room.
