Raine and Horne Leura principal Brenton Ebzery said that while buyer activity may have slowed, the purchaser profile had definitely changed since the start of the pandemic.

“What Covid did was completely blow all previous statistics and buyer demographics out the window,” Mr Ebzery said.

“An area like Leura for instance, where we’d normally only see retirees buying, suddenly became the target of young professionals from Sydney.

“IT workers on high salaries from Coogee, Maroubra, and the CBD were wanting to move from their apartments into beautiful properties in Blackheath, Wentworth Falls, Leura and Katoomba that, when compared dollar for dollar, offered far more bang for their buck.

“Covid meant the stereotypical buyer here changed enormously. It became complete opposite to what we had seen.”
