R&H Suburb Profile STAFFORD
Stafford is a suburb 6km north of Brisbane, Queensland. It is a predominantly residential suburb featuring original Queenslander-style homes and a significant number of post-war housing commission homes on quarter-acre blocks, built around the 1940s and 1950s. Because of the suburb’s age, a large number of Stafford's residents are elderly, although a growing number of families and younger residents are moving to the area.
The suburb is about 25 mins drive from the CBD. Due to its location and the age and style of housing, the area is relatively affordable and has become popular with investors and first home buyers. Many houses have been renovated and upgraded. These improvements, along with a dwindling land stock, are helping to raise the profile and value of the suburb. Stafford's style of housing is predominantly single unit houses with some units and townhouses.
The suburb is home to Stafford City Shopping Centre, Westfield Shoppingtown Chermside and Everton Plaza in Everton Park. Both centres have cinema complexes.
Stafford is close to both Holy Spirit and Prince Charles hospitals. The Royal Brisbane Hospital is about 20 mins drive. The area is serviced by buses, while railway stations at nearby Enoggera and Alderley provide an alternative means of transport.
Stafford also has good access to public and private primary and secondary schools, including Stafford Primary School, Everton Park High School, Padua College and Stafford Heights Primary School.
There are numerous walkways, bikeways, parks and sporting grounds in the area.
