Forestville is 15km north of Sydney’s CBD in the Warringah Council local government area. It is part of the Northern Beaches region and considered part of the Forest District, colloquially known as ‘The Forest’.

Forestville is bound to the east and west by Garigal National Park bushland and to the south by Middle Harbour. The suburb’s shopping centre has a supermarket and specialty shops.

Forestville has primarily comprised low density housing. However, this has begun to change with the construction of medium density apartments.

Forestville has two primary schools - Our Lady of Good Counsel and Forestville Public School. The nearest high school is Killarney Heights High School. Forest High School and Davidson High School are in nearby suburbs.

Popular sports include tennis, netball, soccer, rugby and rugby league. There is a Returned Services League Centre nearby.

Royal North Shore Hospital is nearby, with other major metropolitan hospitals in surrounding areas.
