R&H Suburb Profile CRANBOURNE

Cranbourne is a suburb of Melbourne, 43km south-east of the CBD, in the City of Casey. The greater Cranbourne area consists of Cranbourne, Cranbourne North, Victoria Cranbourne North, Cranbourne West.

Cranbourne has two major shopping areas - Thompson Parkway Shopping Centre and Centro Cranbourne. Between them they house many supermarkets, national chain stores including electrical, discount and department stores, plus dozens of smaller speciality shops.

In Cranbourne’s south is the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Cranbourne Racecourse & Recreation Reserve. Cranbourne is also home to three golf clubs and an indoor swimming pool and the Casey Complex which features a variety of community facilities including an indoor skating facility, indoor sports centre (basketball, netball, and indoor soccer), library, arts rehearsal centre, ten-pin bowling complex and multicultural community centre. Next door is an indoor swimming complex. The suburb also has lawn bowls clubs, shooting facilities, BMX and outdoor skating facilities, a horse riding club and Cranbourne Turf Club.

There are several primary and secondary schools as well as a Cranbourne campus of the Chisholm Institute of TAFE.

Trains and buses serve the area.

Cranbourne does not have its own hospital but hospitals in nearby suburbs serve the area.
