South Hurstville is a suburb in southern Sydney, 18km from the CBD, part of the St George area. It is in the local government area of the Municipality of Kogarah, with neighbouring suburbs of Blakehurst, Kyle Bay and Connells Point.

South Hurstville mainly consists of residential properties, with a small number of commercial developments located on the shopping strip of King Georges Road near Connells Point Road. The shopping strip consists of the well-known Kings Head Tavern and various takeaway shops.

South Hurstville Shopping Centre is also a popular shopping destination in the area, hosting an IGA supermarket, medical centre, chemist and many speciality stores.   

South Hurstville's residential developments are a mixture of low and medium density housing. Neighbouring suburbs Blakehurst, Kyle Bay and Connells Point are bay side suburbs, featuring many waterfront properties. The area is known by locals as being quiet and family friendly.    

South Hurstville is serviced by buses run by Veolia Transport and there is a major train station located in the neighbouring suburb of Hurstville. All suburban and most interurban trains stop at Hurstville. Hurstville is 20 minutes from Sydney Central station on the express service.

Schools in the suburb include Hurstville South Public School and St. Raphael’s Catholic Primary School. Schools in neighbouring suburbs include Hurstville Boys High School, Hurstville Public School, Danebank Anglican Girls School, Bethany College, Beverly Hills Public School and St George Christian School. Sydney Technical High School is located just over the border in Bexley.

The suburb is served by St George hospitals and Hurstville Private Hospital, with more hospitals in nearby suburbs.
