R&H Suburb Profile BROADBEACH

Broadbeach is a suburb on Queensland's Gold Coast, just over 80km south of Brisbane. It is five minutes south of Surfers Paradise and a little quieter.

Broadbeach boasts an inviting stretch of beach, dining and shopping options. Broadbeach Mall and Surf Parade are lined with outdoor cafes and restaurants. Beachfront craft markets are held on the first and third Sunday of the month.

Development mostly incorporates low rise structures, comprising single bedroom houses and apartment blocks. Much of the suburb comprises canal waterways, including Lake Intrepid, linked to the Nerang River.

Broadbeach is home to one Queensland's largest shopping centres, Pacific Fair, which serves as the regional public transport hub, known as the Pacific Fair Bus Station. The area is also home to the Conrad Jupiters Casino, the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Oasis Shopping Centre. Well known apartment blocks include The Wave, Beach Haven, Niecon Plaza, Hi-Ho Motel, Belle Maison, Bel Air and Air On Broadbeach.

A privatised monorail connects the Oasis Shopping Centre with the casino. The Gold Coast Oceanway provides pedestrians and cyclists access along the beaches of Broadbeach. The suburb contains a major road intersection between Nerang Broadbeach Road and the Gold Coast Highway. There is public transport to all of the Gold Coast’s destinations, theme parks, and connection to the Nerang and Robina Train Stations, which go to Brisbane city or Brisbane Airport.

The Broadbeach Surf Life Saving Club patrols the beach in the centre of the suburb. Merrimac Oval is home to the Broadbeach Australian Football Club which represents the suburb in the AFL Queensland State League. Other recreational facilities include the Broadbeach Lawn Bowls Club and the Broadbeach Surfschool.

Schools include Broadbeach Pre-school, C&K Broadbeach Community Pre-School, St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School, Surfers Paradise Primary School, Miami Primary School, Robina Primary School, Merrimac State High School, Miami State High School.

There are several hospitals nearby including Miami State Hospital, Pindara Private Hospital, Gold Coast Hospital, Allamanda Private Hospital, Pacific Private Hospital and Spendelove Private Hospital.

Several churches are also in the area.
