Cleveland is about 25km south-east of Brisbane (about 50 mins drive) and is the commercial hub of the Redland Bay region. It has a population of about 14,000.
Cleveland is the launch point to North Stradbroke Island. To the south is Redland Bay, the starting point for ferry services to Macleay, Lamb, Russell and Karragarra islands.
The area is regarded as a vibrant coastal village with a friendly, cosmopolitan atmosphere. Cleveland has its own marina and many quality restaurants. Raby Bay Harbourside is a major dining, entertainment and boating hub, particularly popular with seafood lovers.
Cleveland has primary and secondary schools as well as hospitals and public transport. There are regular Citytrain services to Brisbane from Cleveland railway station.
A market garden area, Redland Shire hosts a strawberry festival on the first weekend in September.
